Week 11

In the end, I would really love to be in the early childhood field. I love little kids, especially babies, so I would really like to word with the Early Head Start program, which allows me to work and play with the small children that are usually underprivileged. To accomplish this and also to have a back up plan, I will need to get my early childhood education degree which will allow me to work in elementary schools as well if the Head Start program isn't right for me. This degree will take me 4 years to receive my diploma, but with the Hope Scholarship over my head all lights are green. I will save thousands with this scholarship and work my way through college.

Week 10

This program of work based learning has helped me in many ways as a student, as an employee, and as a person. Because of this program I was able to use my work as a credit, which helped me tremendously because I am having to pay bill so I have to work. This program allowed me to earn points in school as well as earning money! This job also helped me as en employee because not only did I have to work hard to keep my job, but also so that I wouldn't lose this credit because it's one of my last till graduation. This program has helped me as a person because it's allowed me to establish a good name with this laundry company that may have some management positions available for me in the near future.

Week 9

I am now working at a laundry mat instead of the Plantation buffet, and i feel like it's turning out to be a whole lot better of a learning experience! The laundry mat is relevant life experience an important way, which is the level of how important orderliness is. Everything is a routine and in a straight line, so if you apply that orderliness an routine to your life, you may be able to open up a few new doors and see a little bit more clearly what you're working with. Later on in life I will know how to press clothes and how to fold clothes I can assure you that, but other than that I can't see how this job would help me later on in life. Like I said before, because everything is organized and because everything is done in routine, you really do start making your own routines out side of the job, which really is a good trait to have going into the world and starting college, etc.

Week 8

A lot of the time many people in the world must act more well manner and more intelligent than they may be generally in every day life. Business men may have to dress up and put on their smarty pants to either impress or influence clients. With me, it's the same way (only different!) When i go to work I may not be able to wear my favorite ripped jeans and tank top. Probably regular ironed jeans and a conservative t-shirt is what I would wear when I go to work, not only because it's relaxed and comfortable, but because it's more professional and it puts out a better image of myself that I would want the world to see me as. Also, cussing has been a problem in life, but I can assure you that a cuss word will not be slipping out of my mouth at work because it portrays an image of myself that's not as refined and polite as I would like my working thinking of me as. Simple things like the two I listed about are easy and important factors to be considering while working, and they are things I focus on every day!

Week 6

Approaching both school and work rigorously is difficult at times because some times you don't want to put in your full effort for the most important things. In my experience, just keep the goal in sight is what keeps me going. If you can actually vision the outcome of the actions that you're doing it might help you do that one more hour of school that you've really been needing to put in with you tutor. It's a hard decision when you're deciding between an extra hour of class and one less hour of play. Although, if you try to look at the extra hour everyday helping you to graduate on time, it's not as hard of a thing to do (that is if you really want to graduate). Work is a little bit different because there's a more obvious prize that's just around the corner (usually at the end of the week!). We get pay checks for all of the work that we do , so you know that the more you work and the harder that you work equal more money in your pocket or more money in the bank. That's enough of a motivation for me to do my very best at work.

Week 6

Since I have started working at the Plantation Buffet, It has been a big priority in my life. For these first 6 weeks I have been putting work before school every time. Although it sounds kind of sketchy to be putting school and graduation and school on a pedestal, I knew that I would still have efficient time to do my work well. As of now I’m not working during the day, so now school is my top priority. This is the time that I was depending on, so it’s going pretty well. I have to graduate in May so that I can go to college the following fall of 2010 at Gainesville. I need to graduate because it means that by the time I’m 21 I could have a job in a Pre-School or day care center with a degree.

Week 5

Since I’ve been working I really have noticed quite a few changes in my self. Since working as a waitress, I have learned to be able to hold a polite and constant conversation with someone. That also boosted my people skills because it was just comfortable talking among these different people about all kinds of different things. I have also learned how to politely be mad when a customer is rude or acting crazy. You just keep a smile on your face and just go on about your business. After a while it really doesn’t even matter because it was just one person out of all of the people in the world; only a second out of your day. One last thing that I’m noticing about myself is that at my house I clean CONSTANTLY! If anything is out of order I end up fixing it without knowing that I’m doing it.
