Week 6
Since I have started working at the Plantation Buffet, It has been a big priority in my life. For these first 6 weeks I have been putting work before school every time. Although it sounds kind of sketchy to be putting school and graduation and school on a pedestal, I knew that I would still have efficient time to do my work well. As of now I’m not working during the day, so now school is my top priority. This is the time that I was depending on, so it’s going pretty well. I have to graduate in May so that I can go to college the following fall of 2010 at Gainesville. I need to graduate because it means that by the time I’m 21 I could have a job in a Pre-School or day care center with a degree.
Week 5
Since I’ve been working I really have noticed quite a few changes in my self. Since working as a waitress, I have learned to be able to hold a polite and constant conversation with someone. That also boosted my people skills because it was just comfortable talking among these different people about all kinds of different things. I have also learned how to politely be mad when a customer is rude or acting crazy. You just keep a smile on your face and just go on about your business. After a while it really doesn’t even matter because it was just one person out of all of the people in the world; only a second out of your day. One last thing that I’m noticing about myself is that at my house I clean CONSTANTLY! If anything is out of order I end up fixing it without knowing that I’m doing it.

Week 3
By the 3rd week of work on the lunch shift, I had really gotten used to working there and serving people so many days during the week were good days. I really got to know the customers that came into the job so it was nice to have people come in and call you by name before proceeding to have a real conversation. Also, lunch shift is pretty busy, so when I make good tips ($70 or $80), it's a good day. This past Friday I made $100 in tips just during the lunch shift, and 30 for my hours. I also worked Friday night and made an additional $40 in tips and $30 for my hours. I made a lot of money that day and I put just about all of it in the bank. Like I said in my earlier post, I enjoy being able to see my money growing.
week 2
Being a waitress is a pretty rewarding job when you work for 5 hours for one day, make 5 dollars an hour, and make 40 plus tips per lunch shift! It's a lot of money coming in every day, including Fridays when we get paid in cash. The first week I kept all of my money and spent it every day, but this week I have been going to the bank and putting it all in, saving at least 30 dollars per day. Saving that money is pretty important to me now that I can see it in the bank getting bigger. Many times I will find my self cutting out coupons for grocery stores and out of different catalogues so the I can find the best deal for the things I need. There’s no point in spending more money when with a little bit more time and effort can save you a lot.
week 1
The first day I worked at the Plantation Buffet I was pretty nervous. I had never been a waitress before, so I realized that I had to turn up my people skills and my confidence level to succeed. I didn't really have any expectations of the job because I had no idea what to expect! The only thing that I really expected to do was make money; which I am able to do at this job.
